PINK PEPPERS

It's me

From my diary

Can't believe I forgot 

To take a picture

But snipped a green bell pepper

Off the vine Friday

Cut into it

And oh my

The inside was orangey pink

How could that be

Cried me

Then googled it

And of course

Forgot the plant was for a yellow pepper

And the inside morphed first

As a pinkish orange

Still, it tasted like perfection

And now I know

Green, yellow, red

It’s how peppers grow…

NOTES:  I will bet that at least half of you reading this knew all about the inside of peppers. Decades ago my son Ben and I planted a red rose bush and a yellow rose bush. It bloomed beautifully but then went to sleep for the winter. When they woke up there were two red rose bushes. I thought something magical happened (this was b.c. before computers) but eventually accepted that DNA and breeding are quite powerful! Better not quit my day job…
